He also gave an update on Derek Barnett who will miss the rest of the season and undergo shoulder surgery.Here’s what the head coach had to say:On Derek Barnett’s injuryHe was asked right off the bat about Derek Barnett’s injury, to which Pederson confirmed it was a shoulder injury and Barnett had already undergone surgery. He also confirm the defender is out for the season, and it was a continuation of the injury he was sidelined with a few weeks ago.Asked what the plan without Barnett, he said the team is still okay and they’ve got some options. He noted that Josh Sweat will fill that role, and Pederson said he’s been doing well and running the practice team. The head coach said Sweat can be explosive and is long, and this will be a good opportunity for him.Pederson was then asked about Barnett now having his second consecutive season cut short due to injury, and the head coach reflected on his time as a player and being put on IR. He noted it’s no fun to sit on the sideline when you want to be out there helping your team, but Pederson notes Barnett is a good player and believes he will come back stronger.On spreading out the offenseIt was noted that the team’s offense has been more successful the more they move the ball around to different targets, and whether the recent games have been too focused on targets to Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz — a question also asked to Mike Groh on Tuesday.Pederson noted that those two had been getting the majority of targets Youth Jalen Mills Jersey , and some of that is by design, and some is by circumstance. He also noted that Agholor is one of the guys they design plays for each week, and it’s up to Pederson to make those calls.The head coach was also asked about Jake Elliott and his missed field goals over the past few weeks, but Pederson said he doesn’t give it much thought because they still have confidence in him. For some reason, they thought it’d be a great idea to sign the oft-injured, perpetually mediocre-at-best Sam Bradford to a two-year contract worth $40 million ($15 million guaranteed) this offseason.Arizona did this AFTER Bradford was only to play one game in 2017 due to a lingering knee issue that was described as “degenerative.” And the Cardinals actually gave him a RAISE from last year! To no surprise, the Bradford signing has already proved to be a flop just three games into the 2018 season. The 30-year-old quarterback is averaging a mere 5.0 yards per attempt and he’s thrown two touchdowns to four interceptions (plus he’s fumbled three times). His passer rating checks in at 62.5, which is bad.The Cards have admitted their mistake by benching Bradford. Arizona will be starting rookie quarterback Josh Rosen this week, which is the right move for them. Bradford was just always a complete waste of time.If you’re wondering why I’m so frustrated by the Cardinals’ stupidity, it’s because they were stupid in a way that didn’t help the Eagles. But then again, that 2019 mid-round pick pales in comparison to the value that Minnesota surrendered to the Eagles when the Vikings traded for Bradford back in 2016. Philadelphia ultimately got Derek Barnett, who forced a key strip-sack against the Vikings in the NFC Championship Game and recovered Brandon Graham’s strip-sack in the Minnesota-hosted Super Bowl, and Josh Sweat with the 2017 first-round pick and the 2018 fourth-round pick the Eagles received for Bradford. It remains to be seen if teams have finally learned their lesson when it comes to Bradford. I won’t believe it until I see it. Maybe it’s worth holding out hope that Pat Shurmur will try to bring him to the Giants if/when New York moves on from Eli Manning after this season.
