BALTIMORE -- Left-handed reliever Troy Patton returned from his 25-game suspension Thursday, part of a roster shuffle by the Baltimore Orioles that included the activation of Manny Machado from the 15-day disabled list. Patton was placed on the restricted list testing positive for a banned amphetamine. Patton took Adderall, a drug commonly used to combat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, late in the 2013 season and then was given a random drug test. The suspension cost him $174,180 of his $1,275,000 salary. Patton went 2-0 with a 3.70 ERA in a career-high 56 appearances for the Orioles last year. He made four rehab appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. To make room for Patton, the Orioles sent reliever Josh Stinson outright to Norfolk. Machado hadnt played since left knee surgery on Oct. 14. The third baseman was not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against Pittsburgh on Thursday, but manager Buck Showalter said Machado would start in the nightcap. Machado was poised to return Tuesday, but rain postponed Baltimores game against the Pirates. The same thing happened Wednesday, creating the need for a single-admission doubleheader. "Manny wasnt going to play 18 innings first day back from rehab," Showalter said. "We could have waited to activate him, but we would use him in the first game if the right situation presented itself." The 21-year-old Machado takes the roster spot vacated by first baseman Chris Davis, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained left oblique. Davis had a platelet rich plasma injection on Monday. "What they do is they draw your own blood and spin it, then they take the platelets and inject them back into your body," Davis said. "Its supposed to speed up the healing process and take the place of a cortisone shot." Davis believes the treatment was having the desired effect. "I had (the shot) on Monday. It was pretty painful," he said. "Tuesday I was sore and Wednesday I was sore. Today I feel better. Hopefully I am recovering and it will heal." Davis led the majors last year with 53 homers and 138 RBIs. Hes gotten off to a slow start this season -- he has only two home runs -- but hopes to return soon to add to the total. "I got off to my hottest start ever last year so there was a lot of excitement," he said. "I knew it was probably not going to happen again. But I felt like I was getting good at-bats and making things happen." Also Thursday, the Orioles optioned infielder Steve Lombardozzi to Norfolk to make room for first baseman Steve Pearce, who was signed to a major league contract Tuesday after being designated for assignment last week. Lombardozzi batted .292 in 19 games this season. Brooks Reed Jersey . The post-season, Pierce said repeatedly, is no time to panic. And the Heat, apparently, are nothing to fear. From there, Welker dished it back to Sanders, who flipped it to Julius Thomas — all of Mannings favourite targets getting into the act. Those guys are all great athletes and my vertical leap isnt what it used to be. I havent played keep-away since I was 8 years old, Manning said. That is something I will always remember. The Broncos had actually talked about doing something like that but Manning said he was surprised his teammates went through with it.He shouldnt have been, Demaryius Thomas said, revealing that Manning actually had them practice it Friday. Its easy. You did that when you were kids, Thomas said. Its like keep the ball away from the guy in the middle.Manning said he just didnt think theyd go through with it.Im a little bit hurt by it, the fact theyre kind of picking on me, Manning feigned. Ive lost my vertical leap. Its not there anymore. My side-to-side agility is not quite as quick. So, it hurt me.Then again, Manning said he deserved to get picked on based on my non-graceful play when I tripped on the play before. So, it is probably fitting. That was pretty funny. Ill remember a lot of things about tonight, but Ill definitely remember that part of it and the fact they had the guts to go ahead and go through with it.Manning finally got the ball along with congratulations from his teammates and coaches. The souvenir wont end up on Mannings mantle, however — the Pro Football Hall of Fame has a nice spot all ready for it.After the shenanigans, a series of football dignitaries offered their kudos on the giant scoreboard, including GM John Elway, Dan Marino, Y.A. Tittle, Sonny Jurgensen, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and of course, Favre.I want to say congratulations for breaking the touchdown record, Favre said. Im not surprised. Youve been a wonderful player and Ive enjoyed watching you play. Ive enjoyed competing against you. I wish you great success for the rest of the season and the rest of your career.Manning added a 40-yard TD throww to Demaryius Thomas after Aqib Talibs interception in the third quarter that made it 28-10, and then Demaryius Thomas set up another score with a 49-yard catch.ddddddddddddThis time, running back Ronnie Hillman darted through the line for a career-long 37-yard run that made it 35-10. He added a 1-yarder as the Broncos (5-1) discovered a ground game to go with Mannings passing prowess.Manning completed 22 of 26 passes for 318 yards with no interceptions to go with his four TD throws before taking the fourth quarter off.Im not sure what their coaches do, 49ers safety Eric Reid said. They probably dont have to do much. When hes out there on the field, he recognizes the defence and makes audibles, he does it all. Youre playing against a co-ordinator when hes out there. Hes definitely one of the best, if not the best, ever.Demaryius Thomas caught eight of Mannings throws for 171 yards, giving him an eye-popping 27 catches for 521 yards receiving and five TDs over the last three games. The 49ers (4-3) did very little right in seeing their three-game winning streak snapped. Their only real highlight was Colin Kaepernicks 4-yard TD pass to Stevie Johnson with 11 seconds left in the half brought the 49ers to 21-10.Kaepernick was sacked six times — DeMarcus Ware had three and Von Miller two.It was such a thorough thrashing that coach John Fox was able to rest his regulars late in the game, which could prove crucial with the San Diego Chargers coming to town Thursday night.Manning threw a 3-yard TD pass to Sanders on Denvers first drive and tied the record when Welker took a pass over the middle for 39 yards. Sanders score was his first in Denver, and he became the 47th player to catch a TD pass from Manning.Manning reached the milestone in his 246th regular-season game. Favre needed 302.I think Brett has always known he is one of my favourite players. He played the position with so much passion, so much toughness and great production as a quarterback, Manning said.Among those offering their congratulations on the scoreboard was Fran Tarkenton, who said, Well, Peyton, its official. Your ducks have crossed the end zone more than anybody elses. But really, congratulations. Nobody has ever played the quarterback position better than you have.Notes: 49ers C Daniel Kilgore apparently broke his left ankle in the third quarter. ... The Broncos lost LB Steven Johnson (ankle) and CB Omar Bolden (possible concussion).___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.or g and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL___Follow AP Pro Football Writer Arnie Melendrez Stapleton on Twitter: http://twitter.com/arniestapletonAuthentic Steelers JerseysAuthentic Cowboys JerseysAuthentic Raiders JerseysAuthentic Chiefs JerseysAuthentic Eagles JerseysAuthentic Redskins JerseysAuthentic Falcons JerseysAuthentic Ravens JerseysAuthentic Browns JerseysAuthentic Cardinals JerseysAuthentic Bills JerseysAuthentic Panthers JerseysAuthentic Bears JerseysAuthentic Bengals JerseysAuthentic Texans JerseysAuthentic Broncos JerseysAuthentic Lions JerseysAuthentic Packers JerseysAuthentic Jets JerseysAuthentic Dolphins JerseysAuthentic Patriots JerseysAuthentic Jaguars JerseysAuthentic Titans JerseysAuthentic Chargers JerseysAuthentic Giants JerseysAuthentic Saints JerseysAuthentic Buccaneers JerseysAuthentic 49ers JerseysAuthentic Seahawks JerseysAuthentic Rams JerseysAuthentic Vikings JerseysAuthentic Colts Jerseys ' ' '
