Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsIt’s draft week. And as is the tradition, that means the LA Times holds their beat writers mock draft in which writers for various publications across the country make the pick for the team they cover. And right away, there was a shocker at number one overall. It got kinda cray cray from there too.No. 1 Arizona Cardinals | DT Quinnen Williams, AlabamaNotes: Befitting on a day Tyler Green puts out his Quinnen Williams scouting report saying he is the best player in this draft — not a stretch, really — the Cardinals make him their pick with the first overall pick, going against the widely speculated selection of Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray.No. 2 San Francisco 49ers | DE Nick Bosa, Ohio StateMatt Barrows, The Athletic3. New York Jets | OLB Josh Allen, KentuckyBrian Costello, New York PostNo. 4 Oakland Raiders | OLB Devin White, LSUNotes: With the shakeup at the top of this mock causing the top three defensive players to ALL be gone, and no trades in this mock, Gehlken was in a tough spot. White makes some sense in this scenario.No. 5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers | DT Ed Oliver, HoustonRick Stroud, Tampa Bay TimesNo. 6 New York Giants | DE Montez Sweat, Mississippi StateTom Rock, Newsday7. The Raiders made it official Tuesday they will be featured on the long running HBO show.Even as recently as a couple hours before the official announcement, Jon Gruden was playing coy. But his tone about it seemed to suggest something was up. He spoke of the team’s rookies and ended the statement by saying “Who knows, maybe Hard Knocks will come and cover that. That’d be awesome, wouldn’t it?”He has up to this point said very clearly that he did NOT want Hard Knocks here. This statement today was obviously laced with sarcasm. As the offseason has gone along, the Raiders have made moves that had many, including myself, saying they were a made-for-TV operation this season. Gruden was already in house and then he hired fellow veteran TV NFL analyst Mike Mayock as GM. Then they went about trading for Antonio Brown and signing the likes of Vontaze Burfict and Richie Incognito. Combine that with having four draft picks in the top 40 and it was a no-brainer.This season of Hard Knocks will premiere August 6 at 10pm on HBO.Follow @LeviDamien
