Hardly any other fashion line was as important for the history of sneakers as the Air Max. The first sneaker with the Air technology appeared in 1987 and heralded the beginning of a Nike Air Max 90 Dame true era. Over the years the Air Max was permanently updated with new versions and in 1995 the Nike Air Max 95 followed, using a continuous air bubble for the first time. The sneaker is since a firm contender of any sneakerhead collection. Even two decades later and the AM95 still enjoys great popularity. Now, once again, Nike makes the hearts of many sneakerheads beat faster with a new release: the Nike Air Max 95 in Psychic Blue and Chrome Yellow.
Nike's release calendar is packed tightly and many new models won't get the deserved attention they deserve. But that's not true for this colorful version of the Air Max 95. The first thing you notice about the sneaker is the denim material that stretches in an eye-catching psychic blue from the cap to the heel, giving the shoe an urban look. The other prime colors of this Air Max Adidas Ultra Boost Dámské 95 variant are purple, chrome yellow and a strong red. The wavy lines are colorful and give the Air Max 95 a unique look. The big difference here is that the arrangement of the Nike Air Vapormax Dames colors on each shoe flank is different and runs alternating. This play of colors runs through the entire shoe and is also expressed in the special lacing. The different colored laces are covered by two unique metal plates. The plate on the left sneaker is heart-shaped whereas the right one is in the form of a radiant sun.
The sole of the sneaker is held in a plain white, because the focus of the glances should be completely on the upper. Especially the heart and the sun are a real eye-catchers and will make you looking forward to more designs of the Nike Air Max 95.
This shoe will be dropping together with two other long-awaited Nike sneakers, the Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail Gyakusou and the Air Jordan 1 First Class on the 26th of September 2019 at 2 o'clock.
It's not hard to spot a Scouser. While Londoners might go for Adidas Gazelle Dame Trapstar or Palace headwear, people from Liverpool are more likely to opt for Under Armour. While women in Essex, Manchester and Leeds know how to plump an eyebrow, generally they have nothing on the iconic Scouse brow.
But perhaps the biggest giveaway that someone's from Liverpool is what's on their feet. If it's over 12 degrees, look for the adidas Adilette. In any other climate, it's always Air Max 95s.
Known locally as 110s – because they used to cost £110 (they're now £130) – it's a joke among the city's trainer sellers that Nike shifts more 95s here than anywhere else in the world. But you don't need to do a stock take to get an idea of how prolific these shoes are in the city: cast your eyes to the ground at any home game, city centre bar or pub and you'll see them.
To understand why 1110s have developed such a cult Nike Cortez Femme following in Liverpool, I spoke to Lewis Earle, a trainer expert with an Instagram account dedicated to his growing collection.
The 23-year-old has over 100 pairs of trainers meticulously stored in his home, all of them bought with money saved from his job in digital support for LUSH. In his collection are two pairs of 110s: the classic green neon you'll spot everywhere in Liverpool ("Scouse staples"), and a rarer No-Sew pair, without any stitching.
"You have to have a pair. It's just a classic Liverpool shoe, do you know what I mean?" said Lewis. "It doesn't feel right to have so many trainers and not have a pair of 110s – they're just classics."
