CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- LeBron James heard the cheers from the crowd as he lay on the court holding his right thigh and writhing in pain. It only seemed to awaken the four-time league MVP. James scored 19 of his game-high 31 points after sustaining a thigh bruise early in the third quarter, helping the Miami Heat earn a first-round sweep of the Charlotte Bobcats with a 109-98 victory Monday night. He finished Game 4 10 of 19 from the field and had nine assists. "Its definitely sore," James said. "Im fortunate we were able to close out tonight and I can give it a little rest." He should have plenty of time. The two-time defending NBA champions will await the winner of Brooklyn-Toronto series, which is tied 2-2. If that series goes the distance it wont wrap up until Sunday. James said playing Charlotte was a good first test and Miami is headed in the right direction as it looks to win its third straight NBA championship. "We got tested by a young, scrappy Bobcats team," said James, who averaged 36.2 points in eight games against Charlotte this season. "We responded with a championship-type attitude." Chris Bosh added 17 points and Dwyane Wade battled through foul trouble and finished with 15 as Miami extended its winning streak over Charlotte to 20 games. The Heat improved to 16-2 in first-round games since James arrival four years ago. This was the second straight year the Heat swept their first-round series, taking out Milwaukee in four games last season. This was Miamis ninth consecutive series victory. "We improved every game and thats the most important thing about this series," James said. Miami began to take control midway through the third quarter shortly after James gave his teammates a scare when he drove to the basket from the left wing and his right thigh collided with Bismack Biyombos knee, sending James to the floor. Concerned teammates gathered around him and he was down for about a minute. James eventually got up and hobbled to the bench where sat down during a timeout. But he stayed in the game. After the timeout he buried a 3-pointer and a long jumper before a one-handed dunk to help give Miami a 73-66 lead with 4:51 left in the third quarter. Miami pushed the lead to 13 when Norris Cole knocked down a 3-point buzzer-beater from the right corner at the end of the quarter. Charlotte never got closer than seven points in the fourth quarter. Down the stretch, the Heat went to James time and time again with Wade on the bench with five fouls. James scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, taking advantage of a size advantage against Gerald Henderson. "LeBron was terrific during that stretch of the fourth quarter," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "I thought the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter there was great execution and trust and the ball was moving and it was just working to the open guy. That was encouraging to see, especially at that time in the game." The Bobcats played without Al Jefferson, their leading scorer and rebounder who has been bothered by a foot injury since the first quarter of Game 1. "If you take away the best offensive player from any team in the league it dramatically changes your team," Bobcats coach Steve Clifford said. Kemba Walker picked up the slack, playing tough throughout and finishing with 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting. "He showed that he is not afraid of the moment," Clifford said. "He had a really good year and finished in a good way so we should be happy about him." Walker called the game a good learning experience for the inexperienced Bobcats. "At the same time its our first go-around in the playoffs for a lot of us and we can only go up from here," Walker said. In the end, turnovers again spelled doom for the Bobcats. They turned it over 16 times, leading to 22 Heat points, including two dunks by James. The loss signalled the end of an era for the Bobcats. They will become the Hornets next season. Before the game the Heat showed solidarity with the Los Angeles Clippers over the Donald Sterling controversy. Like the Clippers on Sunday, the Heat ran out of the tunnel wearing their warmups, huddled at centre court and tossed their white shooting T-shirts to the ground. They then went through their pregame routine with their red Heat warmup jerseys inside out, hiding the teams logo. It was interesting coming off this last game, just looking at the stat book, Brees said, noting that four players tied for a team-high five receptions, while another had four. It just goes to show you weve got a lot of guys that we spread the ball around to.Relatively good health and the emergence of younger players have combined to give the Saints a wider range of options for moving the ball than theyve had for much of the season. The timing is fortuitous. Despite being 6-8, the Saints will win the NFC South Division and host a playoff game if they win their final two games against Atlanta and Tampa Bay. They could even seal up the division this weekend with a victory combined with a Carolina loss to Cleveland.I like to think that were mixing it up quite a bit now to the point where were trying not to allow defences to key on us, Brees said. The Saints now rank second in the NFL in total offence, averaging 422.6 yards. The passing game ranks third (301.8 yards per game) and the running game ninth (120.8 yards per game).During a 31-15 victory in Chicago on Monday night, tight end Jimmy Graham; receivers Marques Colston and Kenny Stills; and running back Pierre Thomas each had five receptions for between 65 and 87 yards apiece. Third-year receiver Nick Toon, who didnt have a single catch until the 11th game of the season, caught four passes for 43 yards.Second year tight end Josh Hill, who still covers kicks and punts, and leads the Saints in special teams tackles, caught two touchdown passes and now has five this season, second only to Grahams nine.Falcons coach Mike Smith said the Saints possess one of the top offences in all of football, and that the unit is getting healthy at the right time.II was very impressed with the performance of (New Orleans) on Monday night offensively, Smith said.ddddddddddddThe Falcons wont have to concern themselves with first-round draft pick Brandin Cooks, who caught seven passes for 77 yards and a touchdown against Atlanta in Week 1 and was among the Saints top receivers before breaking his hand against Cincinnati on Nov. 16. But other players have combined to compensate for Cooks absence.Stills has averaged about 88 yards per game during his past four games. Toon is gradually becoming more of a factor. Colston is not having his best season but has been solid, with 771 yards and four TDs receiving. The Saints top three tight ends are healthy and have combined for 16 touchdowns. New Orleans top three running backs, all of whom have missed between three and six games at various points in the season, are now healthy as well.Power runner Khiry Robinson last Monday finally touched the ball for the first time since breaking his forearm in the sixth game of the season, getting three carries and even catching two passes.Ingram, despite missing three games early this season, is 131 yards away from his first 1,000-yard rushing campaign and ran for a 15-yard score against the Bears.Ingram said Saints coaches are adept at getting lots of different personnel on the field in different situations, giving defences a lot of different things to prepare for.Brees, meanwhile, was pleased to see the Saints getting Ingram, Thomas and Robinson all involved in the same a game for the first time in nearly two months. Each guy brings a different skill set to the table, but Im confident at all times with any of those guys in there, Brees said.Notes: Coach Sean Payton gave the Saints extra rest on Wednesday. The club was still required to submit an estimated injury report, which stated that left tackle Terron Armstead (neck), defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (ankle) and strong safety Jamarca Sanford (hamstring) would have been held out of practice. ... New Orleans has added a kicker, Dustin Hopkins, to its practice squad.___Online:AP NFL websites: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP_NFLCheap Throwback Baseball Detroit Tigers JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Colorado Rockies JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Houston Astros JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Kansas City Royals JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Angels JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Dodgers JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Miami Marlins JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Milwaukee Brewers JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Minnesota Twins JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball New York Mets JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball New York Yankees JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Oakland Athletics JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Philadelphia Phillies JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Pittsburgh Pirates JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball San Diego Padres JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball San Francisco Giants JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Seattle Mariners JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball St. Louis Cardinals JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Tampa Bay Rays JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Texas Rangers JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Toronto Blue Jays JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Washington Nationals Jerseys ' ' '
