The new Jacob & Co. Astronomia Régulateur unveiled This week at Watches & Wonders 2024 in Geneva, Jacob & Co. unveiled the Astronomia Régulateur watch. Historically used by watchmakers eager to regulate their work, regulators are known for their ultra-precise accuracy and unique independent dials to display hours, minutes and seconds.
Jacob & Co's Astronomia Régulateur 43mm rose gold watch features the aforementioned independent display that displays hours, minutes and seconds at three different locations on the dial, and is powered by a unique new Haute Horlogerie movement.
Inspired by the impossible”
Jacob & Co. has given the regulator a ground-breaking reinvention, reinventing a watchmaking classic in a unique way. Thanks to its floating 3D architecture, the movement is able to complete an almost miraculous complete rotation in just 60 seconds. As the slimmest Astronomia-type movement Jacob & Co. has ever designed, the Caliber JCAM6 has an impressive 552 components.
The Astronomia Régulateur watch features a 43 mm diameter and 18 mm thick rose gold case, powered by the JCAM56 movement, with proportions that suit the wrist. This entirely new building builds on a revolution in astronomy. The JCAM56 has a rotation speed of 60 seconds and is equipped with three arms, one of which is a flying tourbillon that rotates once a minute. The other two arms are dedicated to displaying the time, with one subdial displaying the minutes with finely graduated printed indications and the other displaying the hours.
For watchmakers and workers who manage their own work, the seconds indication is the most important and, in this case, the most unique feature. A long, elegant golden hand extends from the base of the vertical movement and points to the seconds scale; a large, domed, blue, translucent ring. The ring itself rotates counterclockwise every 60 seconds, providing a clear and unparalleled display of seconds.
